Active with Parkinson's Cambs (AWPC) is a properly constituted voluntary organisation formed in February 2022.
Our instructor, Paul Goddard, is an award-winning Neurological Rehabilitation Therapist, with many years' experience in the design and development of his own unique exercise provision. He is PD Warrior-trained, a British Nordic walking instructor who is endorsed by INWA (International Nordic Walking Association, a full protocol TMW instructor (Tai Chi Movements for Well-being), Seated Exercise and Smovey instructor.
Paul provides highly motivational, enthusiastic and enjoyable classes in which he shares his knowledge of PD and explains how and why his exercise programme addresses particular symptoms. As one of our attendees said "Paul gives confidence almost intravenously".
Deb pictured with her dear Dad, Graham Liddington, whom she lost to PD in 2020.
Deb does all the admin, organisation, grant applications, etc, entirely voluntarily in memory of him.
Penny recently lost her husband Paul who used to attend our classes. She maintains a keen interest in all that we do and is our class assistant at our PD Challenger class in Newport.
Marjorie is one of the founder members of AWPC and agreed to hold the post of Secretary on the Management Committee when AWPC was formed in February 2022.
Marjorie attends PD Challenger, Nordic Walking and Taichi classes.
Justyna came upon us by chance when she wandered into a volunteer office wanting to offer her services for some voluntary work. She has been a tremendous asset with her advanced Excel and technology skills!
Alexa was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease at 43 years of age. Through medication and exercise she has been able to manage her symptoms and slow her progression.
Although unable to continue to work, Alexa enjoys cake making in her spare time.
She has been attending our PD Challenger classes for nearly a year and receives great benefit, not only from the exercises, but also from the social side by mixing with others with PD.
